Visit America’s Christmas Hometown
Visit a town in the Midwest unlike any other in North America. Located in an area steeped in history, nostalgia, and two of the world’s most recognizable faces, Santa Claus, Indiana is a must-see vacation destination. Known as “America’s Christmas Hometown,” the town features delightful street names like Tinsel, Snowball, Garland and Reindeer Run. It’s also the second home of the jolly ole elf himself, Santa Claus!
This festive town is the home of the award-winning Holiday World Theme Park & Splashin’ Safari Water Park. Explore rides and entertainment for all ages, as well as some of the world’s top ranked roller coasters and water rides. With a convenient location near I-64 between Evansville, Indiana and Louisville, Kentucky, visitors have the chance to experience all of the other local attractions that make this place so very merry.
Taste buds are tantalized with frozen hot chocolate at Santa’s Candy Castle, the nation’s very first themed attraction. The Candy Castle also features hundreds of flavors of gourmet candy canes, popcorn, and a treasure trove of other sweet confections. Across the street from the castle, learn about the town’s history at the Santa Claus Museum & Village featuring the original 22 foot tall Santa statue erected in 1935. You can also visit the original post office building where nearly 15,000 letters to Santa from all over the world are processed and answered by Santa’s elves every Christmas.
Find that perfect Christmas gift or personalized ornament at the giant Santa Claus Christmas Store. Santa Claus himself can be found in this magical outlet, where children of all ages can give him Christmas wish lists and receive a great keepsake photo. Over 2,800 different unique toys can be found at Santa’s Toys, horseback riding is featured at Santa’s Stables, and a great round of golf awaits those who want to play at the Christmas Lake Golf Course.
Just five miles down the road from Santa Claus is the boyhood home of another world-famous face, Abraham Lincoln. From age 7 to 21, Lincoln lived and learned, eventually growing up to be one of our most beloved presidents. Experience life the way young Abraham did at the Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial and Living Historical Farm. Across the street, take in beautiful trees, trails, historical sites and recreation opportunities at Lincoln State Park. Enjoy plays and concerts at Lincoln Amphitheatre, one of the largest roofed amphitheatres in the nation, located right inside Lincoln State Park.
Recently named one of the 11 most family-friendly campgrounds in America by U.S. News & World Report, Lake Rudolph Campground & RV Resort is the perfect place to stay while visiting Santa Claus. Located next door to Holiday World, Lake Rudolph offers great amenities and plenty of ways to stay.
RVers can choose from three site options to fit their needs, while tent campers can enjoy the shade of the forest. For a special getaway, try one of the vacation rentals, including new cottages and cabins. Our Holiday Cottages feature two bedrooms, a family room, a full kitchen, air conditioning, and a screened-in porch to make your vacation the best it can be. Rudolph’s Christmas Cabins feature one bedroom with a king-size bed, a loft that can sleep up to six, and a huge covered deck with a gas grill.
Enjoy fantastic amenities that include Santa’s SplashDown WaterPark featuring multiple water slides and the Dasher Splasher Splash Pad, or relax in Blitzen Bay, our 3,700 square foot family pool. There are also two playgrounds, two basketball courts, and two game rooms, so fun is never more than a few steps away. Today the Santa Claus Christmas Store made their first batch of fudge. It is probably still mixing as I write this. Should be ready to cut first thing tomorrow. I am volunteering right now to be a taste tester.
They have a variety of flavors that include Orange Cream, Chocolate, Banana Nut, Cherry Vanilla Nut, Raspberry Nut, Chewy Praline, Egg Nog, Peanut Butter, Chocolate Walnut, Amaretto Chocolate Swirl, Heath English Toffee and Mint Chocolate Swirl.
If you ask me there isn’t a bad flavor in the bunch!
