Why did the turkey cross the road?

You know that age old question of “why did the chicken cross the road”?

Well, we’ve switched up up a bit today.

“Why did the turkey cross the road?”

“To get to the other side of Rudolph Boulevard of course.” 🙂

Frankly my deer …

I just don’t understand why Rudolph gets all the glory. :p

Contest: Name our New Splash Pad!

Name Me!

Name Me!

Thank you to everyone for submitting name suggestions for our new Splash Pad!

Congratulations to …

John H! We loved his suggestion of Dasher Splasher. He won four two-day wristbands to our Santa’s Splash Down WaterPark.

Dasher Splasher Logo-ol

We have a fun contest for you! This season we are adding a new Splash Pad to Santa’s Splash Down WaterPark. The artist’s rendering is to the right. We’ve been discussing what to name it and we’d love to hear your ideas!

Here is where you come in. Come up with a creative name that we love and we’ll reward you for your clever thinking.

There are a few stipulations when thinking up a name. We’d prefer the name to be Christmassy and match the overall theme of the campground. Call it a splash pad, a splash ground, we don’t care … but keep it fun and Lake Rudolph/Christmas related.

Already thinking of clever and creative monikers? Great! How do you enter? The rules are below:

1. All entries must be posted as a “comment” on this RedNosed blog post no later than 10 am CT on Monday, February 2, 2015. You do not need to include your address or phone number, as we will notify the winner by email. And don’t worry … your email will not be published with your comment.

2. All blog comments are moderated (Rudolph is watching remember?) so as long as they are not spam or naughty in any way, we’ll approve and post them. So keep in mind that your comment may not show up immediately.

3. More than one entry per person is allowed, but each entry must be posted as a separate comment to be considered an official entry. Please post each entry one at a time and not in a list form.

4. To enter, you must be 13 years old or older.

5. The prize is four two-day wristbands to our Santa’s Splash Down WaterPark. Judges’ decision is final. Only one winner will be chosen. You must be staying with us to utilize Santa’s Splash Down and wristbands must be used during our 2015 season.

6. We reserve the right to not use any of the submitted names for our new Splash Pad. But in the instance that happens we’ll still choose the winner that submitted our favorite.

7. Employees of Lake Rudolph Campground & RV Resort, Sun Communities, and their immediate family members are not eligible to win.

8. If we receive multiple entries of the same name (and decide to choose that name), the entry received first (time-stamped on the pre-moderated posts) will win.

Good luck … get those creative minds working!

Rudy’s Recipe: Grilled Waffle Treat

Grilled Waffle

You Need:

  • 8 frozen waffles
  • 1 cup miniature marshmallows
  • 1 cup or milk or semisweet chocolate chips
  • heavy duty aluminum foil

Make It:

Place a waffle on a greased sheet of heavy duty foil, about a 12 inch square. Sprinkle with about 1/4 cup of the marshmallows and chocolate chips. Top with second waffle. Fold around the waffle sandwich and seal tight. Repeat three more times!

Grill over medium heat for about 8 – 10 minutes or until chocolate is melted. Turn once about halfway through. Open carefully and allow steam to escape. Try and wait for it to cool before you devour it. 🙂

What to Know About the Santa Claus Land of Lights

Haven’t experienced the Santa Claus Land of Lights at Lake Rudolph? Come visit us this year! Here are a few fun facts and what you should expect …

  1. Kiddos love the light show. Especially those learning to read. The storyboards are huge and they have a blast reading them out loud. Oh, and kids at heart have fun too!
  2. The light show tells the story of Rudolph and how he was born here in Santa Claus, Indiana. Rudolph dreams of one day leading Santa’s sleigh. As you follow along, Rudolph will train and work hard with a special elf named Artie.
Can you guess what happens next? 🙂
  3. There are over 300 light display pieces throughout the light show! All the lights are LED, super colorful, and very bright.
  4. Tune into 93.1 on your radio to listen to Radio Rudolph. We’ll be playing all of your Christmas favorites!
  5. There are three different tunnels in the light show and they signify changes in time and scenery. Like when Rudolph leaves Santa Claus, Indiana, for the North Pole.
  6. The Santa Claus Land of Lights is the only light show in North America to tell a story in lights and storyboards! At 1.2 miles long it is also the largest holiday light show in a campground.
  7. Each admission receives a voucher for a free photo with Rudolph at the Santa Claus Christmas Store!
  8. $4 discount coupons may be picked up at at participating McDonald’s in Indiana, Kentucky, and Illinois. Click here for the list of locations.
  9. You can purchase pre-paid light show passes online … and still use a coupon code if you have one. Purchase pre-paid passes at this link.
  10. A portion of proceeds benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Ohio Valley.

A picture is worth a thousand words. But we’d really rather you come see it in person!

Now … what are you waiting for?

The show is open Fridays, Saturdays, and Sunday through December 14. Open nightly December 17 through New Year’s Eve. 5 – 9pm CT. Closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
