2008-2009
Lake Rudolph is Named the
2008-2009 National RV Park of the Year
The National
Association of RV Parks & Campgrounds (ARVC) awarded Lake Rudolph
Campground & RV Resort in Santa Claus, Indiana the 2008-2009 National
RV Park of the Year in the large park category (251-499 sites). The
Awards of Excellence program was part of the ARVC national convention
held Nov. 15, 2008 in Nashville, Tenn.
This is the second time Lake Rudolph has received this honor. The park
also was recognized as 2004-2005 National RV Park of the Year.
The RV Park of the Year award is the highest possible honor in the
campground and RV park industry and is based on national directory
ratings, operations excellence, community service, association
involvement, park promotions, management skills, education, and employee
training techniques.
“We are honored to receive this award from our peers in the campground
and RV park industry,” said Philip Koch, owner and President of Lake
Rudolph Campground & RV Resort. “My father, Bill Koch, opened Lake
Rudolph in 1958. Receiving
this award during our 50th anniversary year makes it even
more meaningful. I want to thank
our tremendous
staff for their outstanding efforts, and I especially
thank our guests for helping
us create the great family atmosphere we have at
Lake Rudolph.”
ARVC is the only national association exclusively
representing the interests
of all commercial RV parks and campgrounds in the United
States and includes more than 3,800 members. Membership includes RV
parks and campgrounds, cabin and lodge resorts, membership campgrounds
and resorts,
industry suppliers and park developers.

2006-2007
Lake Rudolph Receives the National Brochure of the Year Award
On December 1, 2006, Lake Rudolph Campground & RV Resort in Santa Claus,
Indiana accepted the 2006-2007 National Brochure of the Year Award from
the
National
Association of RV Parks & Campgrounds (ARVC).
The Awards of Excellence
program was part of the ARVC national convention held at the Rosen
Shingle Creek Resort in Orlando, Florida. The brochure for the
2006 season was conceived and designed by Lake Rudolph Marketing
Director Dave Lovell.
The ARVC Brochure of the Year award is the third major national honor
for Lake Rudolph in four years. Previous awards include the ARVC
2003-2004 National Website of the Year, and the ARVC 2004-2005
National
RV Park of the Year, the highest honor given in the industry.
“It’s always an honor to be recognized by our peers in the campground
and RV Park industry” said Lovell. “Our brochure serves as a major
marketing tool and is instrumental in attracting families from Indiana,
Kentucky, Illinois, and across the Midwest to visit and experience our
resort.” Lake Rudolph owner Philip Koch, General Manager Wayne Utley,
and Lovell accepted the award.

Brochures
are judged on appearance & content, promotion of park & area activities,
and use of maps or directional aids. Approximately 250,000 Lake Rudolph
brochures are distributed each year.

2004-2005
Lake Rudolph is Named the
2004-2005 National RV Park of the Year
The
National Association of RV Parks & Campgrounds (ARVC) awarded Lake
Rudolph Campground & RV Resort in Santa Claus, Indiana the 2004-2005
National RV Park of the Year in the large park category (251-499
sites). The Awards of Excellence program was part of the ARVC national
convention December 2, 2004 in Savannah, Georgia. ARVC's RV Park of the
Year award is the highest possible honor in the campground and RV park
industry and is judged on national directory ratings, operations
excellence, community service, association involvement, park promotions,
management skills, education, and employee training techniques.
"This is an absolutely
fantastic honor and we are thrilled to be recognized with this award by
our peers in the campground and RV park industry" said Philip Koch,
owner and President of Lake Rudolph. "Our goal five years ago was to
make Lake Rudolph one the best parks in the nation. Our staff has done
a tremendous job in making this goal a reality."

Indiana VISTA Award
Lake Rudolph Campground & RV Resort received a
2004 VISTA Award for its
website. The award, in the
Electronic Communications category,
was presented
during a ceremony on March 18th, 2004 at
the Hoosier Hospitality
Conference
in Indianapolis, IN. Lake Rudolph Marketing Director

The VISTA Award is the second honor Lake Rudolph has received for its
website. In November 2003, Lake Rudolph was awarded with having the
National Website of the Year
by the National Association of RV Parks & Campgrounds. The VISTA
awards recognize outstanding promotion of an event or tourism location.
The campground was one of 7
Indiana-based individuals or groups to receive a VISTA. Lake Rudolph
also received
a 2001 VISTA Award in the Promotional Materials category for its year 2000
marketing campaign.
The website was designed
by Lovell and Mary Sampson at Perry-Spencer Communications. The site
features dozens of photos of the campground, an online newsletter, online
reservations, an online survey, information on area attractions, and
everything one would need to know about Lake Rudolph and the surrounding
area. The website recorded 70% more hits in July 2003 than the previous
July and 57% more hits for the year. The campground experienced a 25%
increase in revenue for the 2003 camping season.
“Our website is easy to
use and navigate, and shows the public what a truly fun, safe, and
relaxing time families can experience at Lake Rudolph and other
attractions in our area,” said Lovell. “We are finding that most
of our guests have researched our website prior to their visit and that it
played a role in their decision on where to stay.”
"With the presentation
of the VISTA Awards, the state is saying thank you to all of the people
who work tirelessly to promote Indiana’s many world-class tourist
attractions,” said Lt. Governor Katherine L. Davis, who leads the
state’s tourism efforts as the director of the Indiana Department of
Commerce. “I commend the recipients of these awards for providing
boosts to both the state’s image and its economy.”

ARVC Website of the Year
On November 13, 2003 Lake Rudolph
Campground & RV Resort accepted the 2003-2004 Website of the Year
Award of Excellence from the National Association of RV Parks &
Campgrounds (ARVC). The awards program was held during the annual
ARVC Conference held at the Tropicana Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The award was accepted by Dave Lovell, Marketing Director for Lake Rudolph
and Wayne Utley, General Manager. The
website was designed by Lovell
and by Mary Sampson from Perry-Spencer Communications.
ARVC's Website of the Year
applauds the park or campground whose site balances an effective mix of
technology, promotion and entertainment to capture and retain the
attention and interest of camping consumers.
“We’re thrilled to be recognized

useful information and photos that convey the positive family experience

Awards of Excellence Runner-Up
Lake Rudolph Campground & RV Resort was the runner-up in the
website category for the 2002 Awards of Excellence.
The Awards of Excellence are presented by the
National Association of RV Parks & Campgrounds (ARVC). Lake Rudolph also placed in the top five in the best brochure
category.

2001
General Manager
Wayne Utley earns CPO qualification
Lake Rudolph General Manager Wayne
Utley, CPO graduated in February, 2001 from the RV Park and Campground
Management School sponsored by the National Association of RV Parks and
Campgrounds and the Oglebay Department of Continuing Education. The
credits Mr. Utley earned from school and from attending industry
conventions and workshops over a two-year period qualified him as a CPO
(Certified Park Operator), the highest designation an individual may
attain from ARVC and the campground industry.
2000
Lake Rudolph
receives RUBY Award
Lake Rudolph Campground & R.V.
Resort received two awards for its 2000 marketing campaign. In October of
2000, Marketing Director Dave Lovell accepted the Ruby Award for Best
Marketing Campaign from the Ohio Travel Association. The Ruby Awards,
"Recognizing Uncommon Brilliance in the Hospitality Industry,"
honor the achievements of the travel and tourism industry in advertising,
marketing, and public relations. "Lake Rudolph has found highly
creative and innovative ways to encourage people to visit," said
Sally Dunker, 2000 Ruby Awards Chair. "The outstanding
accomplishments they have made are an inspiration to all of us." Over
200 entries were accepted from a 10-state region.
Lake Rudolph
receives VISTA Award
In March 2001, Lovell accepted a
Vista Award for Promotional Materials from the Lake Rudolph 2000 marketing
campaign. The Vista Awards are presented annually by the Indiana
Department of Commerce’s Tourism and Film Development Division headed by
Lt. Governor Joe Kernan. "The Vista Awards are given to those who
have been outstanding in promoting Indiana, proving what ingenuity and
hard work can do," said Kernan. "All the organizations in this
competition have produced positive results for their industry, their
community and the state of Indiana." The winning entry included the
2000 Lake Rudolph brochure, Rudy’s Camping Club poster, coupon, and
return card, and the 2000 direct-mail post card.
Wayne Utley
inducted into the Koch Development Hall of Fame
Lake Rudolph General Manager Wayne
Utley, CPO was inducted into the Koch Development Corporation Hall of Fame
in December of 2000. Utley was nominated by his peers and inducted by the
KDC Board of Directors. He has been employed with KDC for several years,
nearly two decades as Lake Rudolph’s General Manager. Congratulations
Wayne on your many years of dedicated hard work and accomplishments.
1999
Bob Walker
inducted into the Koch Development Hall of Fame
Former Lake Rudolph employee Bob
Walker was inducted into the Koch Development Corporation Hall of Fame in
December of 1999. Bob passed away earlier that year. He was a campground
guard for over 15 years and was a friend to many who stayed at Lake
Rudolph. A plaque in his honor was presented to his wife and daughter at
the Lake Rudolph Christmas Party.
